I am contemplating using my truck as sort of a disaster relief vehicle, not as part of an organization, but just as a citizen looking to help the community when needed, I will have equipment on board to assist in different scenarios. My question is.....lighting for my truck, I would like to enhance visibility for my truck and for personal safety in the way of Strobe Lights. My plan is a Push Bar on the front with White Strobes and also in my Reverse Lights for the rear, or mounted in the Rear Bumper.....is this legal ?. The DMV Website refers to Strobes "In" the Headlights, not mounted outside.

Every plow truck has all kinds of add-on lighting and nobody in Connecticut cares. The police will only care if you're using lighting on public roads that blinds other drivers. On plow trucks, that lighting tends to have separate switches and you don't use them on the road.

This is true. For the most part, I will be trying to assist stranded motorist during snowstorms (reason for Push Bar), remove downed trees and branches that may block roads from residents and emergency personnel, or any other instance where I can help....it may not necessarily be in someones driveway, but actually on public streets, I just don't want to get pinched while trying to help.

Your first concern should be contacting your Insurance Co.

Neither lawyer, LEO nor DMV, but six years in CT showed me that no one much cares about plow trucks as long as they aren't jerks on the road. As long as you are driving around with normal lighting and your plow tucked in and any spreader gear turned off, I doubt any LEO or town official is going to start counting lights, measuring push bars etc. Use all the hardware ONLY when needed to plow or pull a car loose or whatever, and don't drive around like you own the road no matter how much community good you are doing.

The police go by the same code you are looking up yourself. As far as I know, amber lights are legal in every state so just get some amber strobes. They would be more visible than white anyway
