Some pieces of technology takes time to develop. ABS brakes couldn't have appeared in the 50s. I can't imagine start-stop feature could have worked on carbureted engines that took half dozen cranks to get going. How about simpler ones? Heated seats? Folding side mirrors? Heated steering wheel? Proximity sensors or even CVT.
My Dad had an ‘87 Pontiac 6000STE once. That thing was loaded out for it’s time, it had a full array of digital gauges, and it even had ABS brakes, which were mostly unheard of back then.
Vented seats. It’s just a fan blowing through perferated leather. I have no idea why that took so long to figure out.
Or how about features that should be out now but aren’t? Like a power sunshade for the front windshield? I can buy a $100k car with power folding mirrors, massaging seats, and parks itself, and still have to stuff a shade in the windshield when I park just like I did 30 years ago.
Look how long it took Americans to get the dimmer switch off the floor.
I actually liked it on the floor was easier to many things are built into the turn signal lever, and you could actually keep both hands on the steering wheel.

GM abs brakes become standard in 1989 so in 1987 it was offered on a variety of GM vechiles as well because they rolled it out as an option just like Nissan is making all their vehicles with blind spot warning witch was a option now is standard.
