Is an electronic repellent for cars. We bought one, arrived yesterday and isn't yet installed, so can't evaluate it

At the farm store, I got a sachet of stinky herbs that's supposed to keep rodents away, should be replaced monthly. Works best in an enclosed space, but I just have a carport so I put it on the ground where I park.

I was told to open the hood so the engine cooled off more quickly. Critters look for warm places to nest.

Years ago, maybe 50, I had an old maid aunt that everyone loved

One day she started her new Cady only to hear screams and crunches. Seems a family of cats moved in between the fan and radiator to keep warm Blood and fur everywhere

Can anyone play Taps? I knew you could

Animals and cars never played well together!!!!!!!!!

I had the same thing happen one time with a John Deere combine.

Did a remarkable amount of damage. Took out the radiator, fan, fan shroud... even broke the gear housing on the front of the engine.

We believe squirrels were our culprit. We placed a large rubber snake under the car that stays parked outside. No problems since then but it's only been a few months so time will tell.

Yes, it has startled me a few times when I've seen it before remembering it's fake.

Look for any repellent that contains ”Bitrex” and use that. Wear gloves and be careful with it, it is AWFUL (ask me how I know).

I had a nest built a couple times on my battery. It was using insulation from the hood. I don't think it has any thing to do with food. It wouldn't be getting any in my car, certainly not the engine. I think it was just a sheltered place with easy access nesting material.

We recently had this issue. The pest control guy had us spray peppermint oil (brand was Rodent Sheriff) and leave the hood open every night we pulled in so the engine cooled down faster and it wasn't such a nice cozy/enclosed place anymore. The spray fades quickly, so you have to use A LOT and spray often.

It did the trick.

OP, rodents did this to my friends tractor. Cost them about 1k to fix the damage.

It's not hard. Spend $10 on snap traps and a small jar of generic peanut butter to put on the trigger and check them daily.

Pure peppermint oil soaked cotton balls wherever you can safely put them.

GREAT answer! Unfortunately, most daschunds you will find out there will likely have very little varmint dog instinct left, as they have been bred as companion dogs (pets), with "working" not much in demand. If you could find a dachsund from a working bloodline, you betcha. Varmint dog, par excellence.
