What's happening? Are you going to start getting a fine for a rev?

Ok so is just sound restrictions

Why would they do that? When did noise pollution become another important matter in the automotive industry?

Since the Noise Control Act was passed in 1972.

Noise pollution. Why would you want to promote it, OP?

BTW: All aftermarket exhausts did not become illegal in California on Jan. 1, 2019. Every exhaust system that was legal last year is still legal this year. It did just become a lot easier for California cops to hit you with a fine if you are breaking the existing rules, though.

Also - it's not only California : every state has different laws relating to muffler delete alterations, but for the most part, it's illegal. Most states require all vehicles have a working muffler to prevent excessively loud or unusual noises, but adding a muffler delete or similar device to your vehicle is illegal.

Why don't you check some facts before starting a thread?

Anyone who lives in Sturgis or Laconia - would happily agree with any and all sound restrictions.

Except of course anyone with a motorcycle or those who have a business that is associated with these two events.

Because people are sick of what used to pass for noisy exhausts. Even the sport exhausts on a Maserati don't come anywhere close to exceeding the standard.

I wish they would apply the rule to Harleys.

Im surprised that the California cops are not using this law to look for smog bypasses. Before reading the law I thought thats what this really was about, but its really just for noise.

I would normally say I dont care about loud exhaust, because I dont. Im a show guy, not a go guy. But I do wonder what they would sneakily pass next.
