Some CARB states are DONE with emission testing by now, or within next few years. (That will be nice... but I haven't owned a car requiring it in 10+ yrs. (I prefer old car and trucks). )

Why would anyone buy a used car in the rust belt? Only for engine / interior parts I presume.

I cannot imagine ever having to go to Detroit again, definitely NOT to buy a domestic car

Free would be way too costly for me to go back.

Detroit has the 4th highest murder rate in the country. Not sure how anyone can deny they have a problem with it.

Florida might have crime but they don't kill you as often lol

I wouldn’t buy one from up north, but I wouldn’t buy one from any beach town in FL either. The salt gets in the air and settles on everything, and you’ll see surface rust in the weirdest places. Make sure any used car has spent its life at least 20 miles from the beach.

not sure about other states but in PA the inspection can be performed just about any garage. Think it's up to about $30 pass or fail at most places. The garages I have dealt with over the years have been honest and have even let things slide, had a minor exhaust leak for example.

I realize it's an uneeded expense for many people but on the other hand too many people that do not properly maintain there vehicle or are simply clueless and that puts others at risk.

Ok if you say so I’ve lived in Clearwater i know what it’s like there. Anyway you can get some great deals on vehicles in metro Detroit, especially if you’re a GM, Ford, FCA family member.
