I'm in the land of road salt. It's really unusual for any car to break 200,000 miles.

Thats any car. What car goes for 200k miles with no replacement parts whatsoever?
Car manufacturers know that most buyers dont keep cars that long, so they dont make them to last that long, its a futile battle.

Thats probably a better (yet impossible to get data) survey.
What vehicles make it to 200K miles with the least amount of replacement parts.

And Im pretty sure that GMC and Chevy trucks all use the same parts. If Buick made any trucks they would use the same GM parts as Chevy/GMC.

Three of my BMWs have over 200k. Love 'em. Sold a Mercedes a while back that had over 700k.

I have found that 120,000 is a good time to trade a vehicle. I have traded in two Toyotas for half their purchase price at that point having only to do basic maintenance. My friends have driven them up to 200,000 but at that point the suspension is shot, tranny is whining, various electronics don't work and things feel loose. It's just not worth it for me.

Add a 4runner to the list. I've seen a few 4runners with 300K+ miles and still running strong.

Full size pickups tend to top the longevity list. I speculate that that kind of vehicle with high mileage has more DIY wrenchers who can keep them going without eating the enormous labor costs most people pay.

My money would bet on the Toyota Tacoma or Land Cruiser. 650k miles on my Tacoma and 335k on my 98 Land Cruiser. I didn't have to replace a single failed part on the Land Cruiser until almost 225k miles. Then the starter started to go so I replaced it. Normal maintenance items, like timing belts, water pumps, filters, batteries, brakes, tires, fluids, etc? Sure. Nothing more.

That's just it, if have the money and desire to keep fixing your car when it breaks down and you don't what to get rid of it for whatever reason, you could make it to 1,000,000 miles and beyond!

In terms of overall reliability according to the stats published at Consumer Reports, Toyota has been the king for awhile. Honda and Subaru are also good, but Toyota is on top. There are exceptions for particular models, but the European cars: whether German, Swedish, British, French or Italian - they may be fun, but they ain't normally low maintenance.
