Car phone holder when the phone is in a leather wallet case????

All phone holders that I found on amazon/ebay cater for thin phones, up to like 10mm thickness.
In recent months most people I know (including me) started using leather phone wallets, that hold the phone, bunch of credit cards and cash, and has a nice leather wrap cover. This, when flipped open, is bout ~ 1.7" thick on one side and 1" the other. This does not fit in any of the car vent-mounted phone holders.
I tried to put the phone in front of the gear ****er or the cup holder, but it tilts over in every turn, or falls down, not secure.
Does anyone have a solution?

wallet case example:

I have a nice universal one that has a bottom lip and two ratcheting arms. Squeeze the side levers to open it, press phone into place, arms snap shut to hold it regardless of size or thickness.

But carrying the phone as a fat wallet and having it fit any kind of holder is going to be difficult.

I use a mount that hold the phone magnetically. In theory it could work with that case, but half of the case would flap in the breeze. The best solution is a different case.

When you get out of the car and walk around, who holds your phone?

It is for using the GPS function of the phone, it has to be held up in the driver's sight, using a holder.

This is the type of mount I use with my wallet/folio style phone case.

I think this should work:
https://www.touchofmodern.com/sales/...ar-mount-black

or you could place it on a non-slip mat, on the dashboard.

or flip the case open and place your phone here:

The vent mounts fall off, and a mess.
I decided to make something similar tot he "proclip usa", and attach to it a modified simple phone mount with manually enlarged fingers. It needs to have about 1.7" long fingers, as opposed tot he typical 0.5". I made some of the components for it, ordered small screws and 3D printing, within a week or 2 I should have it done. I hope it will work. $20 material cost plus several hours of work, that is probably worth about $200.

As the OP clarified, this has to be a Windshield Mount as the phone must be in the drivers eye-line for GPS use. (I use mine the same way).

I tried 5 different mounts and ended up the happiest with the cheapest ($8 delivered !!!) and simplest:
It uses a clamp, and easily grabs my Samsung inside a BodyGlove case. The only downside is that the clamp grabs the case right where the power button protrudes, so about 1 in 5 times I put my phone it, I have to cancel the Power Off dialog.
This also leaves easy access to the power plug, which is a must for GPS Nav use.
This mount also had the most successful suction cup. Small but far longer lasting (in the hot sun), than the others I've tried.

Unfortunately, this seems not to be available anymore. I'd try eBay, or look at it's similar (not exact) replacement:
