So my first time using craigslist since they implemented the $5 fee... and so far I have not received a single call on the car. I think this fee will drive a lot of the sites traffic towards Facebook. I used to receive a few calls per day on a newly listed car....no matter the condition. I also don’t like how I am all the way down in the search bar now and have to pay $5 to repost. Not a fan....

Phone calls are worthless if they don't result in a sale.

Why not charge for everything / Maybe a percent of the net price.

I don’t see why it would deter buyers any, they’re not the ones paying the $5.

Cars are now listed in other categories. Have an older car? Put it in antiques. Have a cheap car? Put it in parts. I rarely check Craigslist any more.

if there are going to be less cars on craigslist, i think more people will start using facebook. I already had 2 messages from facebook in the past 24 hours. Non from craigslist so far.

Cars often don't sell right away, so if it's $5 each week that would be a good deterrent to me.

There are buy/sell pages all over Facebook. I check out the cars for sale there all the time. On my cell phone I have a "marketplace" icon that takes me to different categories. I imagine it leads you to the ones you look for the most.

Around here, four out of five Craigslist ads are placed by dealers, some of them out of the area. Has been this way for several months, at least. You can't get a good price from a dealer, because he's making his living from it, unless the car is worth even less.
Facebook Marketplace, on the other hand, has the flaw of channeling what you see according to what you have clicked on in the past. If you change your mind or change your requirements, you will miss relevant new ads because they will be way down the page.
