Why all the talk about a manual transmission, my lord just drive what you want, if you can’t drive a manual don’t start talking smack about people who can. Manual transmissions have been out since the beginning of the automobile. My generation baby boomers had the opportunity to have both manual and automatic transmissions growing up. It’s sad that the newer generations don’t have the options we boomers had.
There are still plenty of manual vehicles for sale, as new models.
...and you can go buy one today, too. Really though, I prefer performance to nostalgia, although I won't deny the appeal and joy of what you describe.
Believe me if i could get one for the same price that they were back in the 70’s i would in a heartbeat, but look at the prices they want for a good 70’s era muscle car. You won’t see today’s manual transmission vehicle become as famous as a muscle car.

What did the kind of car you want cost in the 1970s? What was it?
The big deal is because certain manual transmission fanatics start insinuating that people who drive automatic cars are lazy passengers who aren't in control of their cars.
I'm just as much in control of my automatic equipped BMW as I am in my manual equipped Mustang GT. If you want to say I'm NOT in control of my car, you need to come with a bit more facts than they tend to bring to the table.....................................
IF you live in Maryland.
We went to replace our Honda Pilot with another Pilot......except both our primary home has a descent of 1000 feet to get to town. Our vacation home has a descent of 2500 feet to get to the state highway.
The new Honda Pilot automatics were geared so high that we had to use the brakes to slow the vehicle going down hill. THAT is in FIRST GEAR...... There is no way.... that I am going to be replacing brakes every 50,000 miles!!!
Can't buy a Pilot with a manual transmission.....so we didn't buy a Pilot.
Driving on snow you really want a manual transmission. Driving in the mountains....you really want a manual transmission or at least a vehicle with a low first gear.
Driving in Maryland....well, I feel sorry for you.

That's the spirit! Don't make the car I want with a manual - OK fine I will buy something else that *does* have a manual.
