A $.50/gallon increase isn't too terribly painful. My commute has gone from 27 miles one way to 7. I'll sometimes go home for lunch. If it got up to $4-$5 gallon again, I'd definitely cut back on weekend hiking and kayaking trips and stick closer to home.

No.

I go where I need to go. Gasoline is very likely the most price-inelastic commodity I purchase.

I already take the shortest route on my daily commute.
I already work from home as many days as are offered.
I already run errands when I can combine trips to save not only money but time.

For these reasons, as much as I love my vehicle and driving it, I still consider myself a considerate driver who does not waste mileage on unnecessary trips.

Bought gas today at Costco in DFW area
15 cents cheaper than a Tom Thumb (local grocery chain) store
Forget how much my husband said—just that it was that much cheaper than Tom Thumb’s

We switched from Tahoe to new Traverse model—basically same interior size—but uses a good bit less gas and rides better—still 3 row seating if needed...

This guy did not like the skirt at the rear tire so he used vinyl to change the look.

No. I HAVE to drive to work (25 miles each way) and I have to go grocery shopping on the weekends. As far as trips, sadly, no. Spouse decides on trips, and if he wants to go, we go.

Price elasticity. Plus it's not that expensive. Average car gets say 20 mpg, probably more. Two or three cents a mile isn't enough to change anyone's plans. It's not like anyone is going to change plans and not take a day trip because it costs an extra $5.

Long term you see some changes, not so much short term.

I've shaved off 200 miles a week by not "visiting" some family. I dearly miss them yet with paying $56 to fill my tank..I have to watch every mile I take away from the tank.
Pretty soon I'll have to get a second job just to put money aside for any car repairs.

Yeah that's just wasteful. Had to do the same here, cut visiting by half. Phone works just as well.
