Once again, I need a cellphone mount for my iPhone8 plus. You name it, I've tried it; windshield mount (short and goosneck), air vent with a clip, air vent and magnetic back, just laying it around etc. etc. All had issues that you won't know until after it's too late. The air vent mounts often come up short or the phone is just too big and heavy. Some might say just pair it and keep it in your pocket. Perhaps, but sometimes you want it in view.
I’ll bet the cup holder type hold really well but at $40 plus dollars you won’t see me buying one of those Weather Tech phone holders. Probably a better safety as well having the phone in the console so drivers won’t be as tempted to mess with it as often when driving.
So why are those screens getting bigger and bigger if nobody is supposed to look at them?
So that people can text easier while they are driving?? Big honkin' screens on the dash? Same concept, IMO. Were not suppose to text and drive, read books and drive, etc. but automakers keep putting a screen in the dash for us to look at.
To answer your original question, Weathertech makes a nice cup holder model. Ive had min ea couple of weeks and it seems to work fine.
Yes. The doghouse-mounted console on my 1993 Ford E150 van has two slots just the right size for the typical smart phone, and just the right distance from the cigarette lighter for charging. Obviously they aren't there for that purpose because they wouldn't accommodate any cell phone of the era, and I have no idea what they might have been intended for originally. But they work great for our phones today.
