It may push out the most cars in the US - but what does that really say? The big3 isn't really the big 3 anymore as Fiat owns Chrysler and neither Ford nor GM are the top 3 auto manufactures when you look at it from a global perspective.

So yea - Motor City is still Motor City. But the picture is very different. Most US divisions of the major car companies aren't even there. It's just where the factory is....

Of course Michigan leads the nation in automotive industry, it's where the headquarters are. It's like saying, Florida leads the nation in growth and production of oranges, or New Mexico in production of green chiles. It's expected.

Id have to go with it being 25 yrs until cars like this are the norm. There is just too much 'personalization' involved in cars and trucks, I dont see that going away anytime soon, even if we have full on self drive vehicles, people are still going to want 'their own personal' vehicle, and to make it their own.

If any of you remember the Mechanics Illustrated and Popular Mechanics magazines, in the 50's they had all these articles about how we would have flying cars in the year 2000. That never happened, so I really don't see this one happening either.

Glad I got to enjoy high horsepower, polluting cars while they were around !

Well, big difference there, no one back in those days thought Govt would restrict/withhold technology like they did around that time (Invention Secrecy Act of 1951)...if it hadnt been for that, we would have most of that cool technology that was proposed back then.

Share it means you get to enjoy the fragrance of the garlic and Limburger sandwich that the previous occupant had.

Yes. Some of us well remember those odd predictions and stories. They were seen as possible truth by many of us younguns' but age has taught us not to listen to anyone who says they know what the future holds.

And yes. I too am glad I lived through the automotive age when wrench-challenged engineers and "nannies" were few.

Not sure how many, if any, hot rod parts I can haul in that. Then again I don't need a pod to get me from my downtown apartment to the avocado toast, marijuana coffee IPA hipster bar.
