Which is why I said depending on the car in question. Cars like the Miata, BRZ, etc are more about useable horsepower and being light then flat out horsepower.
I owned a Miata for nine years.
If it had the Solstice GXP's powertrain, it would've been perfect. As it was, it was perfectly reliable, but underpowered.

Keep the revs up in the power band and there should be no problem. I haven’t had a Miata before I want an older one at some point. I have driven more then my fair share of them and unless I’m in the interstate trying to pass someone up hill there’s never a problem with power. On a tight back road good look keeping up with one.
Miata's are great cars but to an enthusiast they lack about 50-100hp. That's why the Porsche Boxster is so popular, it's a Miata on steroids. Thankfully, there's plenty of aftermarket solutions for more horsepower for a Miata that it's relatively easy to fix the lack of power.
Definitely the performance and the different ways that automakers achieve this performance. I especially love innovation in the auto industry and find new developments very interesting. Hence, why I absolutely hate older cars as they aren't bringing anything new to the table, and new cars are usually made by the as company that made the older cars, meaning if these cars really were better they'd incorporate the old tech into the new vehicles. It seems counter intuitive for an automaker to stop stick to what's best.
The tires. Without them a car isn't going anywhere...
I can beat that.
Speaking particularly in terms of General Motors vehicles, one isn't going anywhere if the $2.39 shift cable grommet breaks.
That breaks, and the vehicle won't even start if that plastic grommet breaks.
Ask me how I know this.
Spend $100,000 for a fairly new Corvette, and if that stupid plastic grommet breaks, the vehicle is useless, until that part is replaced.
That has to be the stupidest design flaw of any vehicle.
Bob.
