I’m probably another 2 or 3 years from a new SUV. I will look long and hard at the Telluride or the Palisade.
Due to not liking the current Pilot body styling, my 30 year “Honda only” ride will end.
In my lifetime, I have bought 3 "new" cars; a 1969 Dodge Coronet R/T, a 1981 AMC Eagle station wagon, and a 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD.
I will never buy another "new" vehicle of any kind!
They are all too expensive these days.

90% likely the Subaru Outback XT, probably go all out and get the Touring model- love that soft Napa leather interior and just about all the bells and whistles that a premium German marque would have for $15k less. We also have a good friend that owns a Subaru dealership, albeit on the other side of the country, so if we go that route we’ll get a great deal (cost) and enjoy a cool road trip back home!
Brand new super stiff chassis, finally brought the turbo back and from the reviews it seems to pair well with the upgraded CVT. Not thrilled it only comes with the CVT but I’ve driven the same powertrain in the Ascent and found it to be smooth and responsive, with ~650lbs less to cart around in the Outback I think it’ll be more than fine.
Still, we are likely gonna wait at least eight months or so to see if any issues seem to be cropping up since it is an all new model. We currently have 18 and 14 y.o. super low mileage Subaru’s so we are fine with waiting and other than kinda wanting a new car we don’t yet need one. Not averse to considering other marques, other than I can’t see us buying American, at this point don’t see any other models that equally tick our boxes for the same money.
Looking at the New Tahoe Z71 or Land Rover Defender.
That Defender looks pretty cool. I’ve been watching all the videos, both released from Land Rover and the reviews from the auto journalists the last few days on YouTube. It’s hard enough to justify AWD for us in sunny SoCa haha, although I see you are here too, (we do hit the snowy Sierras) so that capable beast would be more than overkill for us. Also the legendary fragile reliability of the brand scares me off.
But hey, I’m still impressed with it from what I see.

I am a skier, dirt biker, surfer, scuba diver, off roader, plinker...Four wheel drive comes in handy for snow, sand, dirt and navigating those pesky parking lot speed bumps at the grocery store and mall. Lol
Not looking but if I could afford a new vehicle, it would be a 4Runner. Specifically a TRD Pro.
