I’ve ridden a Zero, which is an electric motorcycle with an automatic transmission. In my opinion for electric motorcycles it only makes since to go automatic. Test ride one and you’ll quickly see why. Just twist the throttle and you’re gone. The Zero SR can go 0-60 in 3 seconds. It feels like you’re sitting on top of a robot straight out of hell, it’s pretty sick.
Wouldn't it be an awesome idea to build an electric car or motorcycle with a manual tyranny?
I don't know if this is technically possible and if, if its reasonable, the newest development seems to be a 2 gear automatic transmission, the new Porsche Taycan has it:

It’s really a CVT transmission like a gas scooter uses.
The OBVIOUS reason, beyond the electric motor providing instantaneous torque, is that a number of EVs are powered by either two or 4 electric motors. The motors in those applications are either at each axle, or at each wheel. How, EXACTLY (or why, for that matter), would you add and co-ordinate the operation, of multiple transmissions on one car?
Because torque is pretty flat but horsepower still scales with RPM. You can get by with one gear and most companies do that because it's much cheaper but not the best for performance
no true sports car guy would consider purchasing electric, so there would be an extra cost for almost no demand.
IMHO EV will take off with a wider buying audience when they can capture the excitement that the 60's muscle cars generated. Looks, power, sound, etc. Tesla is trying, but they are still as boring as a Toyota Pius. First EV to excite me like the 64 mustang …..I will be interested

I'm a true sports car guy with an MGB and a BMW ZHP convertible, and I also daily drive an electric because it's fun. Maybe you need to not be so closed minded.
