I laughed out loud for a brief moment, then put my head down on the gas tank in the standard gesture of de*spair and defeat.
Ahead of us on this beautiful, curv*ing, double-yellow roller coaster of a road along the rugged shores of Quebec were four slow-moving vehicles. They were, in this order: a large motorhome, a cop car and two big motorcycles. The motorcycles were pulling trailers. I flipped up my face shield and turned to Barb, who was riding behind me. "Un*believable!" I shouted over my shoulder. "Four of the most difficult-to-pass vehicles on Earth! And all in one group! It's like a bad cartoon!"
Barb patted me on the shoulder, by way of calming consolation. We could be stuck in this little train for many miles, unless we invented some excuse to stop and get off the bike. Maybe it was time to pull over at a scenic overlook. Get out a deck of cards, perhaps, or just finish medical school.
I agree with much of what the article states here. Period tend to be more highly Oblivious to anything going on around them, they focus on what’s directly in front of them...well some times.
We have turn out lanes here in the mountains but they ignore them, and have no problem meandering as slow as possible no matter how many cars they are blocking.
People are more then happy to drive in the left land on the highways barely doing the speed limit, with no though or care that they are causing a problem.
What does this have to do with anything automotive, this should be in a human nature forum. The questions are really getting stupid on this forum who cares about the American driver what does this have to do about a vehicle.
The author is comparing a 2 lane scenic drive in Canada and comparing it to rush hour traffic in Chicago, then using that data to do some America bashing. At least compare Chicago to Toronto. Driving backroads in America is actually rather pleasant.
The author is a long-time American R&T editor who writes regular columns about his travels around America. I think he's pretty well-qualified to comment on driver manners.

That’s only meaningful if he’s also traveled all around Europe and Canada.
It appears so. That's why the thread is now closed.
Also, the first half of the opening post is more appropriate for a blog than a discussion board.
