My kid has a Honda Fit and it lives up to it's name. He bought a 65" TV and just slipped it in the back, box and all. I was surprised.
I bought a 2019 Fit LX in October. The Fit has one trick for cargo space that no other small car has, the "magic seat" on the rear seat. Like all other small hatchbacks, you can flip the upper half of the back seat flat to make a long cargo area towards the hatchback. Or, leave the upper half of the back seat up, and instead fold the bottom of the back seat up against the top of the back seat, and create a tall, sideways cargo hauling area that lets you put in items that are the entire height of the rear doors.
Chevy Spark is the same way as is the Chevy Bolt.
They're very roomy for such small cars.
I was surprised when I drove my daughters Spark to Yuma (from near Detroit). With the seat all the way back, I was not uncomfortable and I am 6'1 and leggy (36") and getting older.
We did have to shift all of her stuff in the back around every time we changed drivers because there was only enough room for one seat to be all the way back with her stuff in there.
On the other hand, I tried to sit in the back once -- that was funny and not successful.
Then they stuck a hybrid drive system in it and called it a Prius.
I knew a courier who put over 400k miles on an Echo. Crank windows, no AC, in SoCal. It must have been hell, but I guess they were reliable.
That’s actually not entirely true. The first-gen Prius looks a lot like an Echo, but shares nothing with it. I can vouch for the reliability of the Echo, though.
Our Outlander doesn’t look big (like a Pilot, Atlas, etc.) And it isn’t big. It’s a “regular size” SUV. But they have finangled the seating in such a way that it can hold 7. The second row slides (each side separately). And it has just a bit of wagon shape, to get that third row in. Granted, it definitely helps if several passengers are kids. But in an absolute pinch, you could fit 7 adults. (I am 6’4”, and even I rode in the third row once....)
I am 6 ft tall and most of my height is in my legs. I drive a Hyundai Veloster and everyone who sees me get out of the car is surprised. When they get in the car with me, they keep looking around, surprised on the roominess. The back seats are a bit tight, but still fit my two kids, 5'3".
We bought a used Prius and that thing is also roomy and when I drive it, I like the visibility, it feels more like a small CUV.
On the flip side, we had a rental Charger recently, and I had trouble with my knee room while driving.
