Accord, Camry, vs Sonata. Numbers are wheelbase, overall length, front (head & leg room), rear (head & leg room), 0-60 acceleration, and fuel economy. Though longer overall, the Sonata has less rear seat room than the other two cars. The cars compared were top line engine versions. Both the Camry and Accord are much faster than the Sonata. Seems Hyundai went a different direction. They went with a 1.6L turbo which offers a slight performance upgrade from the base engine but is much more fuel efficient than the Camry and Accord. There may be a Sonata N-Line version coming later with more powerful power train. I don’t think this is such a bad idea for Hyundai to use the 1.6L turbo. How many customers in this vehicle catagory actually goes for such performance. A family sedan doing 0-60 in around 8 seconds is perfectly fine for the average consumer. Time will tell if Hyundai guess right for the optional engine.

I agree that most people don't need the sub-6 second 0-60 acceleration provided by Camry and Accord with the optional engines, but that's probably why those are the optional engines.

The V6 in the Camry puts it in an entirely different league IMO. It’s so smooth and quiet it makes the Camry more like an Avalon.

It’s about as big as some past Avalon models.

And a little less ugly than the current one.

I miss the V6 option in the Sonata, that was a sweet engine/transmission pair, not for speed, but for smoothness and quietness.

Now to get a V6 in a Camry you have to pay 10K more then the base model.

For a sedan though, I just pick the nicest interior, nothing else matters to me.

Even though it sells far less the 2020 Subaru Legacy XT Touring still makes for a compelling option here against these top trim best sellers.

0-60 6.1 seconds
27 Overall MPG
592 mile cruising range
190.6 in. length
42.8/39.5 front/rear leg room
37.3/37.2 front/rear head room
$35,895

It arguably will give up some driving dynamics to the Honda but if you need AWD your only other choice is the Nissan Altima. Each has subjective attributes in the looks and interior as well as different drivetrains and technology/safety amenities but they all offer a slightly different package with very similar specifications.

And the Fusion. It's getting old though going into it's 7th model year.
