I have a 2015 tundra crewmax that I purchased a year ago with 68k miles for $31k. It just turned over 100k miles as I drive 25-30k miles a year on average. I have not performed the 100k mile service yet and that will be around $1k. The truck runs great and is my DD.

I bought it used from a Ford dealer and they usually follow up every quarter. Well, I just talked to my sales guy and it seems Ford is really offering some great incentives on remaining 2019 f150s. He just sent me the numbers and for a 4x2 XLT I am at $30k OTD, including my trade.

I really love my tundra and feel like I will get plenty of years out of it but a brand new truck for basically the cost of fees and taxes , plus 0% financing for 72 months is hard to pass up. Not to mention the technology is much better as is the gas mileage (even though I dont pay for it)

Here is the breakdown.

Tundra balance: $26,500k balance @ 5% but will be paid off in 2020.
New F150 XLT : $27,500 + fees(including BS dealer doc fee) , taxes, tags, $1500 neg equity = $30k @0% for 72 month. Still would pay off within 12 months but would consider prolonging.

Thoughts or opinions.?

What engine?
At least, one positive thing - better mpg, as far as you do not go into he V8.

either one really. I am a sales guy that enjoys being in a large vehicle on the road and uses the truck for homeowner projects

Does your Tundra have the 5.7? If it does, then that 3.3 in the F-150 will be a dog by comparison. Also, the resale on a 3.3 F-150 will likely be horrible.

Just my thoughts.... that 2015 Tundra will still be running strong when the 2019 F-150 is ready for the salvage yard.

That's such a cliche. If what you are saying was true, it would be reflected in resale. Price a 10 year old F-150 and a 10yr old Tundra. They are both about $15k. So much for the vaunted Toyota reliability. OP can get a brand new truck for $30k. He owes $26.5 on a 5 year old truck. What's so hard about this?

It’s an F-150 with a base 3.3 V6, pretty much useless for towing anything. Resale is horrible on those as there’s not much of a market for them.

That NA 3.3 is gonna feel like a dog. Especially if you’re towing or hauling. His advantage will be that he can step into a new truck for about 4k.and get a warranty. That’s IF he can walk away from his Tundra for what he owes or better yet if he can get more than he owes. If he’s upside down he’s adding to that new truck balance.
I wouldn’t have a problem trading a 5 year old tundra for a new F150....it just wouldn’t be for the base 3.3 V6.
I wouldn’t even look at anything other than the Coyote or the 7.3 gasser. The Ecoboost is great but a small engine will wear out being asked to do big engine work.

You have a point. It'll tough to get a $26K for a 2015 Tundra.
