I have a 2015 and the navigation says 2014. It needs updating. Can you only get this done at dealers?
How much does it run? I know some people go out and buy all new "head"? units but I don't really want to do that. Just more current maps and businesses etc.

Depends on the car. Could be a new disc, sd card, etc that you simply plug in and go some are over the air subscription updates. Could be something you could find free and download yourself or only accessible at dealer for hundreds of dollars.

Also entirely possible those 2014 maps are still the most current available.

You will get a lot faster, more helpful info if you provide some (any) details about what you have.
Car: year, make, model
GPS: software current version

Keep in mind that most GPS's use maps that are updated annually, and will show the roads etc. at 1-up to 3+ years out of date.
That's why I use Google Maps (via Waze nav software). I've seen it get updated within 2 and at-most 5 weeks.

Depends on the car. My wife’s Infiniti was a new cd. But they no longer update it so it’s behind on updates. Which I wouldn’t care so much but the display is a multifunction and the AC and radio also display in the same screen as the GPS

Gizela, it is silly to update factory navigation.
1. takes about a year to produce new DVD or card to update it. By then, they are already outdated.
2. Such DVD or card cost hefty price. around $200 or more. Why?
3. Any smart phone with Waze or Google Maps beats factory nav down like a pro wrestler. Why even bother? Go to toyotanation, search for navigation and you will hear nothing but rant, how many problems people have with it. I had 2 Toyotas with nav, wife still have RX with nav, we never use it. It's dumb and not getting any better.
