I have a 2014 chevy traverse and yesterday, the anti-theft system locked up and will not let me start the car. It finally started briefly yesterday and I was able to drive it to the shop. Once I shut it off over there, it would not start again. I called today to check on it and they have not looked at it yet. Any idea what caused this to lock up, a sensor or whatever and what might the cost be?

Could be a problem with the radio, believe it or not.
Chevy has had problems with that thing for years. My older 2005 Colorado would occasionally trigger it and i'd have to wait 10 minutes before I could start it.
My new '18 Colorado, I'd get "Service Theft Deterrent" or something occasionally.. The good news was, I could pull the key out, wait a second, put it back in and it'd start. Come to find out.. I have a fob for the door at my office, and it was positioned on my keyring too close to the truck key, and every now and again, it'd interfere.
Moved it way down the keyring and haven't had a problem since.
But, the '05.. That thing was a pain, because all that would happen is that the security light would flash.. After it's happened to you several times, you pay attention, but the first few times.. Hell, you don't know whether it's supposed to flash or not.
GM and electronics are just nothing more then an issue waiting to happen
