I've owned all but one of my cars (that one was hit head on and totaled) for way more than 10 years. Current car driven new off the lot is 23 years old. It does just what I want it to do and I still like driving it. My next car will also probably be kept for more than 10 years too.

2002 Toyota Highlander. Bought new. Tires, batteries, oil changes, one timing chain and one water pump in 18 years. That’s it. Garaged all the time. No car payments for 16 years. Cheap insurance and tabs.
Every now and then I’d like to have something new but can’t justice it. Someday.

I guess the OP isn't LOLing anymore. Many people keep their cars that long or longer.

My current car is 5, so 5 more to go. That will be easy. The oldest one I had was 15 or so when we got rid of it.

I bought my 2004 LS430 in 2012 when it was 8 years old and I've had it ever since. 16 years old now. Have zero plans to get into anything else. I've finally had my first repair...a starter.

I know a lot of people that keep their cars for 10 years. I think these days, 15 years is the new 10 years. Lots of people keep their cars for 10 years, but I suspect very very few will keep them for 15 years.

I find at about 175000 miles even excellent vehicles start having maintenance costs that probably justify getting a newer vehicle. I tend to buy at 30000 and sell at 150000 which is about nine years.

The only car I've sold before it before its expiration point was a 2003 Toyota Corolla after 3 years to buy the Outback. The Corolla was a perfectly nice and reliable econobox that just happened to make my soul die a little every time I drove it. (If we'd gone with the Matrix instead, I'd probably still have it out of inertia- yes I'm a hatch/wagon person)

I always buy new and I always keep them a minimum of 10 years.

So I am still driving my 2002 Ford Explorer NBX.

I never kept a car more than 2-3 years, love them too much to not try as many as I can.

2.3 turbo. Here it is:

Only one on the Iowa / Illinois / Wisconsin car show circuit.

It lived most of its life in the south.
Cars that get driven do not last 30 years out here in the salt.
The vehicles I kept more than 10 years were done in by rust.
People that think they can keep a car 20 or 25 years, well... they live in Sunny California or similar, not here.
