I admit it - the whole idea of driverless/autopilot makes me nervous.

‘I Think This Guy Is, Like, Passed Out in His Tesla’

By Peter C. Baker

What’s fascinating is the way the sci-fi novelty of Autopilot — combined with the deep familiarity of old-fashioned driving — manages to warp our danger-detecting radar. Besides, driving is already one of the more dangerous activities Americans undertake on a daily basis...

Tesla Sleeper videos are undeniably anxiety-inducing. The reasons for this may have as much to do with trust as with the mechanics of driving. Tesla once generated widespread good will by promising affordable electric cars that would make the world cleaner and safer. But over time, its image was tarnished by missed deadlines, worrying crash reports, signs of a cultlike corporate culture and a chief executive, Elon Musk, who habitually exaggerates progress while announcing extravagant new ideas.

I think we fellow drivers have a duty to wake up sleeping bozos by swerving towards their car or getting in front of it and hitting the brakes forcing their car to make evasive maneuvers.

It would be a rude awakening for the sleeping driver when his car is eased over to the rumble strips.

That’s an awful idea unless you can perfectly predict how the software will react, how the driver reacts on waking in a panic, and how other drivers will react. Cars are thousands of pounds and often going at high speeds that can wreck lives pretty abruptly and severely.

It may make more sense to do a series of honks to wake them.
