I am still driving my 02' Ford Excursion and I tow often. Currently I tow a 10K travel Trailer (Nash 27F), a 23' boat 7K (Century center console), a 23', 8K car haul/cargo trailer and a small 2.5K single axle utility trailer. In addition, we also use it when family comes into town, since the truck has seating for 8.

I have towed boats up to 15K. It's not a daily driver. However, I did up grade the receiver recently, actually wore the hitch pin holes out. Bought this one. https://www.torklift.com/rv/superhit...ginal#appguide

That is awesome, never seen anybody wear the hitch pin holes out!

I tow with a 2011 Toyota Land Cruiser these days but it is all light duty. The Cruiser is rated for 8000 lbs., but I’ve aged out on car haulers, 26 ft. enclosed trailers, and travel trailers. It was fun while it lasted.

2000 Honda Insight. Pretty pathetic, I've only had 2000lbs behind it and don't care to have that much. OTOH I towed ~1500lbs from Florida to Vermont and averaged 57mpg (at the pump) traveling at 65mph.

My tow rig is a 2006 Ford F-250 Diesel. 4x4 crew cab. I am setup to pull 5th wheel, gooseneck, and bumper pull trailer. I can pull 2 5/16th ball and a pintle hitch. I have 4 trailer, 2 enclosed, a 5th wheel camper and a flatbed car trailer. I would like to add a gooseneck flatbed and do some more hauling. My pickup is happiest when it is working and pulling. I have had it almost 5 years.

2019 GMC Sierra 6.2-liter with 10-speed auto. Drags around a couple of lawn mowers on a 16' tandem axle utility trailer with ease.

1st Gen Dodge Cummins (I have 3, each nearly identical)
  • 4x4 dually flatbed w/ winch and dump.
  • Nearly all towing is very steep (switchbacks)
  • Triple axle 25,000# GVW trailer (Eager Beaver / beavertail ) 30,000# pintle + 5th wheel options
  • often cross the scales at 30,000# GCVW
  • Engine mods, Valve springs, Inj Pump, Turbo housing
  • 13 spd Fuller Roadranger (upgraded to Class 8 tranny after way too many failures of factory boxes)
  • Updated pumpkins (Dana 80)
  • Exhaust Brake + Updated disc Brakes (vs factory shoe rear)
  • Larger Dia wheels and tires

I also have a Mack and KW for heavy tows and a VW Pickup for <2500# loads

Having been a CDL driver for 47 yrs, I have seen a lot of towing accidents. (Usually too light of a tow rig, & short wheelbase such as Toyota pickup or 4 Runner)

Be careful!

Gotta love them Cummins. Lots of ford owners doing swaps, using both the 12v and 24v p pumped. Check this out.

I haven’t attempted to tow anything for about 10 or 12 years, not counting my time as a trucker

Best one I was around was my Pa’s Megacab Ram. That semi-hemi V8 was a hell of a rig, it pulled well until it didn’t, and then it could just downshift and find some revs to substitute HP for torque. Count me as a fan.

Yes, a "Fummins" is a popular Tow rig. (1m miles +)
Fummins Conversions – NWD Conversions

I plan to drop a 1957 Ford Cab on one of my Dodges.

I like vintage, so you will find me at the annual ATHS National shows. (Harrisonburg, VA June 3-5, 2021)

Awesome 'tow rigs', I would love to have a 1960's Autocar toter.

2020 was virtual
