I have been looking for new tires and prefer to get it local. First place to go is Costco I suppose but choices are limited. I then came across Mavis. They seem to have a huge selection and very low prices, and they are local. Never dealt with them.

They bought a number of NTB locations around the country including here in New England. They were fine this past spring.

I don't ever buy tires from them but I use them for installs and any other work I can't do myself such as alignments, etc... I typically buy tires from either TireRack or SimpleTire and have them shipped directly to my local Mavis. I think they charged me $50 to dismount my wife's old tires and dispose of them and then mount and balance her new snow tires.

Made a few phone calls for the Goodyear Wranglers. Pep Boys has them for $195 each with $143 installation. That's outrageous. Everybody sings the praise of Tire Rack but how much does it cost to get them mounted and balanced?

I've used Mavis for tires and brake work in the past with good results. As with anything auto related the upsell is important to them but I never had a problem keeping that in check. It probably varies greatly depending on who is running the particular location but if you tell them what your budget is they will find a way to make it work.
