It also depends on the driver. Some drivers are safer in a smaller vehicle just because they can handle it better.

well, if you get whacked by a semi on the freeway you're going to die either way .

Not neccesarily; and careful driving will mean that you are more than 70% less likely to be in a car/truck crash!

This is avery controversial topic, Debbie.

I firmly believe "The Larger The Vehicle, The Safer The Occupants" but that usually applies after the accident. Larger vehicles do require a different driving expertise and, due to their size, are more difficult to control so a smaller vehicle may, for many drivers, be more easily managed in an emergency.

Sorry, probably not a good answer but . . .

I feel too small to drive and out of control when i drive my husbands Silverado double cab. Heck my feet dangle off the seats not touching the floor like a kid but i'm very comfortable driving my 4Runner because i feel it's more my size. Yet when we had the Toyota Tundra double cab, i felt comfortable driving it. I guess it comes down to what you feel comfortable in.

well... we can debate the technicalities forever, and btw i'm in the cars are better camp. but really, if you get hit by a semi truck on the freeway you're (probably) going to die.

(so buy the car )

You may be driving perfectly safe but it's the idiot who isn't driving safe or that red light runner that you got to look out for. I find myself watching how else drives just to protect myself.

You might feel safer in that truck. You will only feel the pain when you pull up to that pump and it says: 6.89 reg
