For entry level brands there once was a FWD sedan slightly larger than the midsize sedans. Today only the Toyota Avalon and the Kia replacement to the Cadenza, called the K8, remain. These were near luxury sedans with good highway ride and performance. Of the two remaining which would you choose?
Those gone away include Chevrolet Impala, Buick LaCrosse, Ford Taurus, Hyundai Azera, and I think VW may have had one. I intentionally left out the Nissan Maxima because it isn’t much bigger than the Altima like it was in the past. In fact by some measures the Altima is more roomy in the passenger compartment than the Maxima.
Though I liked the styling of the Azera over the Cadenza I understood why it was eliminated and the upcoming K8 looks better than the Cadenza. Styling wise I prefer the K8 over the Avalon. Take K8 styling with Avalon power train.
Of those gone I would prefer the Buick LaCrosse. I know it’s built on the same platform as Chevrolet Impala but Buick has a way of making their vehicles feel different from Chevrolet.
VW used to have the Quantum, years ago. Then only the midsize Passat for years until 2019 when it was accompanied by the larger Arteon in the category you are talking about: https://www.vw.com/en/models/arteon....3Fzip%3D%22%7D
I think Chrysler still sells an AWD version of the 300. That's a comfortable full sized car.
I think they might be a fleet-only vehicle. I want to say I see them in rental car lots once in a while.
