$10 is about what what it would take to make the cost per mile the same. $0.60, the price in early 1974 comes out to $3.72 now. My Ford Mustang got, charitably, 11 miles per gallon. Now, my 2018 Camry gets about 27 miles to the gallon for the same type of driving. So $9.30 gas would be needed to make it equivalent. I did not notice the roads being much less congested in early 1974 than now, once the supply availability eased by March or April.
Mind you, I don't like Biden but this is not directly his doing. His anti-energy business policies are sending out signals that may be distorting the market.
