I follow a couple of aftermarket performance shops and their builds. Jonathan Ward of Icon designs, whom I think is a brilliant design engineer who's attention to detail is incredible. And the Roadster Shop out of Illinois. Both these companies have done some incredible builds.

This Grand National popped up in my YT feed, and the more I lean about the details of the build the more impressive it is. It took two times watching the video to catch all the little details. IRS, twin turbos, 3d printed components, fully intergraded electronics with touch screen controls....this car is stunning.

What would be worth more,…a fully restored factory original Grand National or this modified Grand National? I would love to see this generation Buick Regal or one of its GM clones fully restomod with an improved engin, transmission, rear differential, suspension, brakes, and tires and look like a dressed up luxury trim version making it a sleeper.

That is all on what the person wants, and can afford. I haven't seen too many GN's go for over $50k, the ones that do have ultra low mileage and aren't really drivers. I'm sure this Roadster Shop GN cost the guy $300k to build...not sure what the resale would be.

Could be a promotional advertisement build like what some shops do for events. They can sell the vehicle to recover some cost of development and gain the rest in advertising and customer draw.

IS this the same Jon Ward that did the LS7 twin turbo caddy seville circa 1984 that punched a 170-ish mph hole thru reality? If so, amazed he is still around!

PS: LS swap is admirable, but EVERYONE does those. would have liked to have seen the 4.1L version of the 3.8 done up twin turbo and modernized fuel. There was panache to being able to kick butt with 6, where everyone else needs 8

I'm not sure if that would be the same Jonathan Ward. The one i'm referring to made his start in CA restoring old Toyota trucks.

Yeah, I'm torn on the LS swap in the GN. It sort of makes it not a GN, but for those kind of reliable, drivable performance numbers, I don't see a V6 doing it.

I know the GN was in the SEMA show in 2022, but not sure if they built it for that, or just asked the customer if they could have it in the show.

Not sure if anyone noticed the watch on the GN owners wrist, but it looked like an Audemars Piguet, not an inexpensive watch...
