We live in NYC and havn't had a car for 3 years, Now we're looking to get the most for our buck and mpg, But safety is a bigger factor,As I don't really want to buy a civic hybrid because its soo small.
But a Hybrid

We're a Family of 4. (My 2 young Boys and my wife, and myself)

And we're planning on moving to texas soon..

And we would like to know what you all recommend?

Toyota Prius, Toyota Camry Hybrid and Nissan Altima Hybrid. Check edmunds.com for specs.

You're planning to move to TX in your new car?

Buy a Range Rover, stick a generator on the roof and your wife can peddle to keep the elcetrics going. You can stick the solar panels on the bonnet

To get the most for your buck, get a Toyota Corolla. We fit 2 kids, including a baby...(and stroller, etc) comfortably in the Corolla. The trunk space is also pretty big for a smaller car. And with mpg of 38 hwy/31 city, and we paid just over $15,000....you can't beat it. Also one of the most reliable cars ever made. And it safe...side airbags, abs, traction control. Today's smaller cars are probably safer than the past generation's battle tank cars.

Don't buy into the myth that you need an SUV. We do just fine with 2 kids in a smaller car. If you had 3 kids, you might want to look at something bigger like a minivan or wagon, but for 2, a car is fine.

If you want something a little bigger than the Corolla, but also good on gas, look at a Honda Accord or a Toyota Camry.

Along the lines of a Corolla ... literally ... is the Toyota Matrix. It's the wagon version of the Corolla. A similar car is the Mazda 3 5-door, which is basically also a small wagon, but apparently calling it a "wagon" is undesirable right now.

Both great great gas mileage, and are surprisingly roomy inside.

Or there's also the Pontiac Vibe, which is just a rebadged Matrix made for Pontiac by Toyota. Same car, and if you bought a late model used, it would probably be cheaper than the Matrix just because the resale value of a Pontiac is not as high as a Toyota.

If the Civic is too small then the corolla is to. Next up is the accord or camryknow as very relialbe cars.Nissan is a third chice but does not have the refinement or resell value of the accord or camry.

Civics are much smaller inside than their counterparts (Corolla, VW Rabbit, Mazda 3, etc.). The others aren't nearly as cramped.
