I got stopped going 13 over. Cop straight u said "We don't care about 10 over...hell you have to do 10 over to keep up with the blue hired old ladies!"
It's all about control, and a sense that America needs to be in perpetual mourning for imagined sins. No more "Beach Boys" era where people are simply happy go-lucky.
Difference is the amount of traffic on some roads and the responsibilities of the people. In my area back in the day, at night most roads were virtually empty. Today those same roads are almost as busy as in the daytime. There were roads people knew to be empty at certain times and would organize drag racing on those roads during those hours. Today’s racers don’t care. They’re racing in traffic putting the lives of other drivers in danger as well as the lives of pedestrians not even on the road.

Drag racing on public roads is flat-out irresponsible, I agree. I'm talking about the overall funereal atmosphere, keeping people in perpetual fear, be it climate change, pandemics and the like. Even allowing crime to go rampant.
The irony is that NorCal is the opposite. In Sacramento when I lived there, everyone on I-80 went 60-65 mph
The Bay Area is 80 mph on the freeways, if traffic conditions allow it. The speed limit on I-80 is 65 mph. So if people in Sacramento are driving 60 mph they are driving below the speed limit. Which would probably be due to congestion. I-80 in California is almost entirely urban and mountain driving. Not too many opportunities to get your speed up there. I-5 on the other hand is an absolute speedway. I have hit over 100 mph on I-5 in heavy traffic. Trucks in the right lane going 65 mph, and everybody else in the left lane going 90 mph - 100 mph.
Im in Southern CA on the outskirts of LA, if you're not doing 80 in the left lane you're the problem.
Agreed, I can take the 5 down from the Bay Area and pass everything the entire way....but once I get around LA, I feel like I'm the slow one. LA drivers know how to move.

They are trying to make up for the hours of dead stop traffic. Our old joke at work is if you can't leave for work by 5 am you may as well not leave until 7 because you all will get there about the same time.
