Hey guys, I just have a quick question that I was wondering about.
I have 1996 Honda Accord LX with about 175,000 miles. Have had almost no problems with it, except for regular maintenance.
My check engine light came on about a week ago. I noticed no difference in driving or any problems. Now today, I turned on my car, and the light is off, and stayed off throughout the day.
I thought I read somewhere that a mechanic has to reset it for the light to go off. Since the light went out, does this mean I don't have a problem?
Is it pretty expensive for a mechanic to read the code and see what the problem is? Thanks in advance for any info!
Go to Autozone, tell them you want a diagnostic check done. They'll plug in the scanner which will tell you what code the ECM is reading. You can then have them erase it if you want. Or fix whatever the ECM says is wrong with it. Chances are your 02 sensor or one of the other sensors is bad or going south.
If the problem corrects itself, the light will go out on it's own, it may only be temporary correction so I would take Deez suggestion and get the codes read.
