Anyone else get annoyed with these guys that paint or tint their tail lights black because they think it makes them "cool"? Yesterday, I was following one of these guys (at a safe distance) and almost rear ended him because there was a sudden slowdown in traffic, he braked suddenly, and his brake lights were barely visible.

I have nothing against guys modifying their cars, as long as it doesn't cause hazards for others.

Yeah, I hate that too - and those stupid big spoilers on the deck of a ricer, and the lowered with the blue lights under the car and those gigantic loud "mufflers" (that's an oxymoron, isn't it?) people think are so dang cool.

It is more than merely hazardous . . . IT IS ILLEGAL in most, if not all, states.

Here in Arizona there's a "hotline" to report equipment violations. Probably too late this time for next time jot down the plate number.

They also do the same on their headlights. Those "spoilers" or "wings" don't do anything for the performance of the car unless you're actually in a high speed race. Other than that all they do is create drag and lower your car's fuel economy.

Unfortunately most of those cars are driving straight while street racing, so they've actually caused damage to their speed. Also I've seen some mounted at poor angles and are probably creating lift. I think if you want black taillight lenses, then you need to spend the money on some very bright LED's, so that you still have the same or better visibility.

Of course these same owners blackout their windows and even windshields. They can't see you or care.

I had a car with limo tint and smoked tails...it was brighter then OEM and looked way better. Too bad a few bad apples ruined the experience for y'all.
I could see you with limo tint..you couldn't see me. The pros outweigh the cons IMO with tint...legal or illegal. Leds for the win out back(meaning LED lights are superior than regular OEM bulbs in the rear). I've seen a few idiots who spray paint their tails black and keep OEM bulbs...sad.
