How many miles does the car you usually drive have? How many were on it when you first bought it?

Mine's (a '00 Chevy Malibu) JUST about at 100,000 miles. I bought it in January 2007 with about 77,000, which means I've driven it quite a bit for one person. For the most part, I have little trouble with it, though it seems to run through brakes fast, occasionally sucks up oil and antifreeze faster than I'd like it to (though at other times is good about it), the suspension is rather hard (but I'm used to it), the engine tends to stall before shifting, and there has been a running problem with the ignition switch not wanting to shut off all the way. However, it's generally reliable and I'm happy with it. My last car, before crashing it in December of '06, had maybe 165,000 miles (sounds a lot more impressive in kilometers - about 265,000 km). That was a '96 Buick Park Avenue, purchased with closer to 150,000.

I have an '06 Jetta, bought new in...Sept?... of '06. I'm closing in on 60,000. Although, I put on almost 40,000 in the first year and since then I haven't been driving nearly as much.

Well I picked the better daily driver for my answer. It has about 190,000 on it and still runs like a top. It had about 75,000 on it when we bought it. Looks good yet with no rust, dings or dents and better yet, no payments!

My beater work/fishing/hunting vehicle has 276,000 on it and also runs like a top. Sure the body is pretty far gone, but there is no killing the Beast's running gear. I bought that one with about 225,000 on it from a friend who had it for all but 30,000 of those miles when he bought it used. I knew the truck well or else I never would have bought it with that many miles on it. It uses about 1/2 a quart or oil every 3000 miles.

My current daily driver is a 2007 Honda Civic which has about 45,000 miles on it. I bought it new in August of last year. Prior to that I was driving a 2005 Chevy Colorado that was purchased new in June, 2005. It now has over 110,000 miles on it, most of which was put on prior to purchasing the Honda. Both still run well, but have needed oil & filter changes, tires (1x for the Honda, 3x for the Chevy), and brakes (1x each, so far). There have been only a couple other minor issues with the Chevy, and none for the Honda at this point.

I bought my 1991 Nissan Maxima on November 12, 2007 with 171,100 miles. Right now I have 192,3--. I just drove close to 1000 miles on here for a trip one way. I'm in Bristol, VA on a vacation and decided to take the ol' Nissan. Trusty car, motor runs like a champ even with 192K on her. Burns no oil.
