This can be hard. Car would have to be modified as necessary to meet US regs for it's model year, I don't know offhand how different your Skyline is from the nearest US model, but the modification can be expensive and the customs people can be hard to deal with.

Unless you are in the US to stay, you would be way better off selling the Skyline where it is and buying something else here. Or letting a trusted friend drive the Skyline while you are here temporarily, if that's the case.

If you are here temporarily you *might* be able to get some sort of temporary permit to bring the car into the US, but you have to re-export it on time.

Start with the NHTSA - Vehicle Importation Regulations

You have to get the car approved. Only two models of Skylines have gotten Federal approval and the cars must be prepped. I think Motorex is the only company to do this, and it is an expensive process - like $20k. This is also for Japan-spec cars, not sure about your country...

AUTOSALES

You can also buy one in the US from Motorex, or just buy a great car here - the US has the best selection of sports cars in the world.

Here's my suggestion:

1) Sell the Skyline you have

2) Take the proceeds from the sale and buy one in the U.S. that has already been federalized.

Motorex has been bankrupt and out of business for awhile now. There are no options other than to perform the modifications needed to fix the side impact crash problems when you import the car, and from what I understand, Motorex is the only company that went through the process to legally certify and register these cars. You may be out of luck if you don't already have a Skyline imported into the US.

The Infiniti G35 is the US version of the modern Skyline, as mentioned near the end of the article here:

Nissan Skyline - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The article also mentioned the G37 model due out soon.

There is a new Skyline coming out, but it will just be called the GTR. I'm not sure when it goes on sale in the US, but it's a monster.

Like jdavid notes, the latest Skyline is already sold here as the Infiniti G35/G37. The GT-R has always been the "high-performance" version of the Skyline, but since there is no Skyline-branded model in the U.S. and for some reason Nissan didn't want to market the GT-R as an Infiniti here, it's just called "Nissan GT-R" here. And it's already on sale.

Not trying to sound overly negative here, MHB . . . however, importing a vehicle NOT meeting U.S. Federal Requirements can and probably will be a nightmare of paperwork and red tape.

I agree with the other posters . . . take the easy way out and buy a vehicle already "legal" here.

Good Luck
