For someone who is going to part-out an old car to sell on eBay what parts would you recommend trying to sell on there? From your experiance what used parts would probably be in the most demand? I'am going to start parting out my old car but I kinda wanted to narrow it down to specific parts that are worth selling.

I'd also like to hear from anyone who has gotten good or decent results with specific car parts on ebay. I have a 1995 Cirrus.

just about anything would sell, but again it really depends on what kind of an old car it is.

usually for a classic if your body panels are in good condition -they will sell

In good condition:
-electrical
-drivetrain
-interior pieces and trim
-just about anything else off the car.
Your best bet would be to look into what is in demand for that specific vehicle.

Is the cirrus what you are parting out? If yes I am going to bet that you are not going to have much luck. Do a search through e-bay and look up parts for that car them watch them and see if they sell.

I was checking out ebay's completed auctions section saturday. Many of the parts I saw seemed to be new parts not too many used. I'am not going to bother parting out everything just the parts that can bring at least $40 or more and that aren't too difficult to remove. Yeah it's a Cirrus.

Is that related to the $400 tune-ups that makes them not too popular?

I had a neighbor recommend that I place an ad or let people know that I'am parting out the car then remove the parts from the car as people ask for them and also I should find out what junkyards are charging for certain parts to help me determine how much to ask for the parts. He felt that would be better than removing parts that may or may not sell on ebay. How does that approach sound to you?

You can go to a u-pull-it yard. like we have LKQ's in FL and MI that will give you a price sheet listing all the used parts they sell. I know PCM modules and EGR assemblies can get pretty expensive even used. if it has power windows or sunroof the motors on those items can be expensive. I agree about craigslist, you might get lucky and find someone close to your town that has the similiar car damaged and needs a parts car.

Honestly, with that car I wouldn't even bother. Scrap metal prices are so high these days you probably would make more money taking it to the crush yard rather than wasting hours upon hours of removing parts that are already a dime a dozen. Junkyards are full of this platform Chrysler and new parts are cheap and readily available.

I have bought parts for my '87 Trans Am on ebay, but then again it's a car that's easy for someone to work on themself. I'm not sure anyone would be willing to spend much time on a Cirrus.

I would like to do that but metal prices are now on the decline. I read that it's related to the weak economy and less of a demand for metals by China.
