It doesn't sound like a scam, actually. The Pacifica has been discontinued because they felt it competed too much with the Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspen, not to mention the minivans. Even during good times I was seeing $10K off sticker for the things, so it may actually be a good deal for them.
That $10K was mostly Chrysler incentives.
I guess it could be a good deal if Chrysler suddenly put $20K of incentives on the car for the dealership.
Carmax is buying PT Cruisers in Excellent condition for $7000 trade in value so if this was true people would go sell the Car to carmax. Obviously a gimmick, a dealer could get some value of the PT Cruiser.
Looks like I was mistaken. Back in 2006 you could get a PT Cruiser for $10K after incentives, the invoice was around $12K.. the invoice prices have been inflated since then.
I wish this was happening with houses. While prices are coming down, houses are still overpriced in a lot of cities. But a 2-for-1 deal would be great.
There was a 2008 Chevy Malibu (the redesigned model) for less than 10,000 advertised in the paper. I'm not sure of the mileage but wow...a 2008 vehicle for less than 10,000.
