I had a '62 Monza Spyder, maroon with black top, black interior. Loved the car, but the wife couldn't learn to drive a stick. (It was our first car.) Took it back and traded for a white automatic (ugh) but loved that car, too.
Idiosynchcrasies that we did not love: the foam air filter would disintegrate and plug the carbs; the oil sending unit was 50% ceramic and would crack and leak much oil; the engine mounting bolts would pop out and the motor would fall to the ground (maybe this only happened to me.)
I think that these old models should rest in peace, as we still have our memories, however they may be.
We have a man driving a black Corvair here and the license plate reads F NADER. The state has been trying for years to get rid of this plate because they say it contains an obscenity.
He's still driving it with that plate. His Corvair is a beauty.
My dad had a Cosworth Vega. He really liked that car, and wanted to restore it. But, a very rare (expensive) part needed replaced, and he couldn't afford the part. So he sold it.

LOL, It didn't only happen to you. I had one with the two speed auto powerglide transmission with the gear selector lever on the dash. Can't remember for sure what year it even was, but I was the only high school kid in my area with a Corvair,LOL. I always carried a good supply of oil with me because I went through more oil than gas. I was out one weekend crusin around with a couple of my friends and the motor fell out on the road, we pushed it off to the side and that's where I left it....somebody finally towed it away after awhile. That's the first and last Corvair I ever owned.

Anyone else here this??
While we are at it, why not just bring back the Pinto, the Gremlin, the Matador and the Rambler?
The real GTO's were built 64 to 72. 73-74 are half hearted attempts.
The real Novas were built 62 to 79.
And if you have one of these and it doesn't fall into the years posted, it's a wanna be. End of story.
