There's a huge price difference between the 73-77 and earlier. 79 up is even cheaper, and lighter.

I always liked the El Camino. My favorite year is a 73. I know that's not considered a muscle year, but there's something about that generation of El Caminos I really like. I remember seeing the 73 on the showroom floor. I instantly fell in love with it. Now to have a brand new one with a custom 500 horsepower 454. Life would be good.

I've owned a '70 red/black stripes big block while in HS that looked like a brand new one that was a blast to drive (it was like driving on black ice when the road was bone dry) and I had a '73 with the woodgrain pkg and a small block a few years later.GAWDY....'73 rode better but couldn't watch the tail lights of the '70.

There is a SUPER sharp '67 for sale in town right now and if you are interested I'd be glad to price it for you. It's COBALT BLUE metallic and as slick as cat crap on a linoleum floor

I would buy a 1968-1972 El Camino. They were the best looking ones, plus by 1970 you could get the solid lifter 454 in one from the factory.

our family had a 64, 65, and 66 + a 72

I'd do a 66 with a 300+ hp 327, and 4spd w/posi.
unique body year, no smog, no computer

the 2010 based on the G8 platform looks good
The G8 sport truck boasts the same 361 HP 6.0-liter V8 found under the hood of the Pontiac G8 GT. Plus, the sport truck will lose much of the rear weight we've been told hampers the true tire-squealing abilities of this born-down-under import so we expect once behind the wheel, we'll in no time be bathed in the glorious clouds of tire smoke billowing from beneath the six-foot cargo box. Pontiac even claims a 5.4 second 0-to-60 time and unlike it's crude Malibu-based forefather, the latest pickup car will sport a modern independent suspension and fat rubber all around. Getting sideways will still be the most fun way through a corner, but we're betting it will be a lot less suicidal now with this new Pontiac G8 El Camino.

Now that is just butt-ugly. Looks like someone took a sawzall to a Grand am.
