I want a Miata primarily to be driving a stick again... I test drove a few this past summer and am hooked; as soon as the winters deals start dropping I’ll be a buyer.
The Miata has always had a great shifter since its introduction in 1989. Even 1st generation is a joy to drive. Decades of year models out there... something for every budget.
I still drive a stick. Out of six vehicles I owned, four were/are manuals. At this time, my husband has two automatics because neither model was available with a manual in any trim level.
If we are visiting an urban area, renting a small car with an automatic is fine, even desirable. Other than that, no thanks.
I thought CVT was continuous or continuously variable transmission.
My last 6 new vehicles have been manuals.
That continuous. Is the pulleys constantly changing and adjusting ratios. if you see how they work, there are plenty of Youtube videos on them, you would never want one in your vehicle. They can handle only so much horsepower, and you better keep it maintained properly or it will cost you. Even then it will have to be rebuilt or replaced waay before you want to. It brings to light the term slip-o-matic. They work great in light duty snowmobiles and mopeds.
