Perhaps this isn't the proper thread for this question (so the moderator may decide to move it).

In a nutshell: AAA or AARP Road Service???

Anyone have experience utilizing both services? Heard opinions/complaints? Recommendations?

I've been tempted to give AARP a try first but thought I would check things out this way first. Thanks for your time.

I have had AAA for several years and have been quite satisfied with them, have not tried AARP so don't have any meaningful comparison.

AAA gives the map service for any road trips, and some discounts as well.

After a short/brief study, it's AAA. Office is only 1 1/2 miles down the street, great maps and other goodies to boot.

AAA rocks. I'd go for the Plus plan, but just IMO. Way more useful for not that much more $$.

I don't know anything about AARP's roadside assistance, but in general I don't think AARP does a particularly good job in helping their members, and that's why I didn't remain an AARP member. I've been a member of AAA for decades (I have something of a high resistance to change), and I've been very pleased with them.

AAA also gives good hotel/travel assistance and discounts. We usually pay for our membership just with travel savings; thankfully haven't needed the roadside assist yet. I would recommend though the higher package to get more miles for a tow; well worth the few bucks over basic coverage

When AAA tow truck drivers get old, they are forced to become AARP tow truck drivers.

I have AAA as well... only had 1 problem with them but it was fixed right away.... One morning It was snowing and my tire popped at 5 am.... No trucks were around so i had to find another tow truck... I was pissed and made them reimburse me for the fee... they did it no questions asked
