So everyone has overwhelmingly agreed on keeping the Focus. LOL.

To wheelsup: why is the 1.8T so terrible? That's the one it has. You mean they die really early and people are forced to buy new ones?

To caution: I never thought about the insurance difference. I use the shared driver thing with my parents so I don't know how much it will affect it. But also, about the speed, until I fix up the Focus, I have trouble passing cars when going kinda fast. If I am going like 60 on the freeway and try to change lanes, it is difficult to get up to the 75 or 80 necessary on an LA freeway. LOL. Acceleration is not spectacular, but better than other cars.

And Mr. Cat and Steve-O have conflicting views. The problem is that I might move to a city like Boston or NYC. I really wanna upgrade my car for now, but I'm not sure where I will go to college. If I go to BU, I will have to sell the car. If not, I will keep up. But, if I sell the car without doing upgrades, I will feel as if I missed the golden and only opportunity to do so because I will probably permanently stay in Boston or NYC.

And I've been looking for info about reliability of the GLI, but have had no luck. I know the Focus is good because it was the top rated car in Consumer Reports, but I never heard anything about the GLI.

Also, I know the GLI takes premium gas, but would I be able to change off and not hurt the car or at least use the middle kind?

Well I don't have the money for that or an ST. LOL.

I read that you have an SVT. Have you upgraded yours at all? What would you suggest. I'm not a pro or anything with cars so what will make it the fastest on a budget? And I also want a body kit. Not too big and flashy, but just so it doesn't look stock.

Anyone know where I can get a good body kit? I have looked everywhere online and stuff like that.

Also, I looked on ebay motors and found a lot of GLIs. I could afford a lot of them and some are under $10k or even $9k. You think that's worth it or no?

www.focaljet.com <- best online Ford Focus forum. period.

i would stick to the Focus, but I am a bit biased. even if it was another car, though, i would recommend holding on to what you have. losing money by hopping between cars is not a great habit to get into.

Mike

If you are under 25 they are paying a primium on your insurance as part of their policy . If you get a preformance car it wil take a hit.

Well insurance on my car is even more than my mom's BMW 528 just because hers is a 1999 model and mine is a 2006, so IDK how much insurance would change by getting a GLI.

I'm hopefully gonna test drive one tomorrow. Apparently this one VW dealer has some cool employees that will let even 16 year olds test drive their cars. My friend test a Jetta a few weeks ago and asked her friends could go with her. The guy was like "Yeah, sure." So there were 4 people crammed in the back of a Jetta while on a test drive. LOL. Hopefully I will be able to do that.

Yes, I have an SVT. I havent done much performance upgrades, as the funds are low. Ive done a few things, but mostly cosmetic. I chopped the ridiculously long antenna and made it a shorty, copper core plugs and Ford Motorsport plug wires, blacked out the turn signals, got an AEM alternator pulley, K&N drop in filter, and header wrap, thats about it. If youre looking for a good mod, get a tune for the car. I believe its called "Toms Tune", you can find him on Focus Fanatics boards.

You can try the British American Transfer. I forget their website name, but I think it might be British American Transfer or something like that.
