I have to admit doing that occaisioanlly, especially in My Jensen Healey. Often I just want to see what it can stand up to. It is not a powerhouse, but it is small and light. (UNtil I get a burnt valve repaired, it does nto go at all however).

Usually I will only sprint up to the speed limit or slightly above and then back off. I do not need any tickets.

In my Camaro I rarly "compete" but I do sometimes like to jet out of a light just because I can and it is exhilirating. Sometimes, I may be in the wrong lane and need to get over. It is easy to do when you are way ahead of the line so you know where all of the toehr cars are. SO then I will jst out too, but not if someone wants to play race. More than a ticket, I do not need dents.

I also have to admit that I enjoy doing a 0-80 in a few seconds when getting on an empy freeway. Acceleration is exhilerating and it is fund to see how well you can run through the gears without messing up.

I try to avoid burning the tires. That does nothing excpet burn the tires. It may cost me a bit more in gas and wear on the car, but then why buy a muscle or sports car if you are not going to play? It is cheaper than other bad habits/hobbies that I could have. Smoking or drinking is far more costly.

There was this other guy on a Saleen Mustang, we were at a stop light, he gave me the look and I just shook my head. He started revving so when we took off he was still spinning and I was gone. I pulled about 2 1/2 cars on him until we reached the next light. He rolled down the window and and said to me: "That's a fast car you got there", I said to him 'Yup, it kinda moves quick'.
There were many V8's that fell, as well as others until my wife's cousing came by with a 01 Camaro. I don't know what the hell he had done to it but this car plain out left me standing there. Later on he showed me a dyno pull netting 738 HP 720 TQ, I was like no wonder!!
With all due respect.
Bull, you took down a Saleen ? [ note a real Saleen, not a beauty Queen]
Drag out your rice I got a BONE stock 96 Z/28 . Before you take the bait, you better read up on the Last of the LT1s

We both went in the drugstore about a half block away.
He got a couple cans of Red Bull.
I got some sinus pills.
I was ahead of him in the checkout line.
I love it, wait I just rolled up my pant legs, to late to save the shoes.

I used to in my Chevelle. Once, I pulled beside another Chevelle at a light. We both were revving the engines, waiting for the green. Suddenly, he stopped and started pointing toward his chest. I kept ready for a burn-out. Then I realized he was pointing over his shoulder. There was a cop behind him shaking his finger at me. We both left the green light like a couple of old ladies. Whew!

I haven't messed around like that since I had to give my '69 Dodge Coronet R/T back to Chrysler Credit.
Ah, yes, the Chevelle. SS, to be specific. I passed one once on I-5 heading from Everett to Seattle about 2 AM. He started to chase me, so I waited for him. when he got beside me (we were doing about 60 MPH), I floored the Dodge. Kinda left him sitting there wondering "what was THAT?"
Yeah, left him in the dust.
That ol' 440 was a runner, fer shure!
Wish I still had that car.

so, uh, not to be a wet blanket, but does www.city-data.com allow discussions of illegal activities such as this? regardless of the vehicles involved, street racing IS illegal. many many car sites strictly forbid threads on this topic, and i would think it best for CD to do the same.

sorry to be that guy,

Mike

I nearly always floor my car when leaving the light if there are no cars in front of me. I have a slow car (88 horsepower ford escort)so I almost have to.

I wish I could say bring it on but I no longer own the car. But I feel you, I know some people find it hard to believe but it did happen. I'm not much of a bragger and I don't lie so I guess you either believe it or not.
