In 1986 I got a 1978 Chevy Camaro with a 3 speed auto and 250 cid inline six. What I didn't know ab-out the car when I got it was all four windows and the trunk lid leaked water when it rained. About a year or so later I took it to my uncle for a tune-up we found out that one of the cylinders wasn't working. Was told to overhaul the engine cost about as much as a rebuilt engine, both of which was more than the value of the car itself. Put it up for sale. I told the buyer the truth about the problems with the car. The buyer didn't care. He wanted a Camro body for track racing. Said he already had an engine and transmission ready for the body.
In 1997 at 22yo went out and got an 87 Nissan Maxima it was a tu-tone bronze and cream and had brown interior. Digital Gauges and it talked. It was a POS but i didnt care. lol
It had more STP in the sump than oil and a great big dent in the boot- trunk!
It cost £50 and was not worth it!
Essentially it was a lump of junk, but it taught me basic car repairs!
One highlight was travelling along in the dark at 50mph (its top speed) one night in the deep dark countryside, when all the lights went and I had to rely on the image of the shape of the road ahead that was left on my retina!
Thankfully it died soon after and I saved up for a new Fiat 127 which was really fun. It really handled and on the limit I could lift the inside rear wheel on my favourite bend.
Here is a picture of an Austin 133- this one is pristine. Why anyone would go to these lengths is beyond me.
