My choices would be either the Suburban or Escalade. The Escalade is one very nice looking vehicle. I would love to own one, but have other priorities now. Maybe I'll go to the Cadillac dealer and test drive one just for grins.

Chevy/GMC/Cadillac (Suburban/Yukon XL/Escalade), Toyota Sequoia/Land Cruiser.

To be honest, bigger SUVs are harder to get in and out of. Yes they have a bit more interior space, but ALL seats can recline and slide back.

Of the American SUV's out there, I like Chevy the best, then Dodge, then Ford. I rented a new Suburban last year for a long weekend camping trip, it was very comfy, plenty of room for passengers adn storage and had some decent power. If you don't need all that extra cabin space then try a Tahoe or GMC Yukon. Dount count out the foreign competition completely though, there are some nice SUVs out there by Toyota, Nissan and Honda.

Did I miss a price range? I saw that the OP planned to put $10k down, but never saw how much he wanted to spend.

I plan on putting 10,000 down and financing 6 to 8,000.00. I need to rebuild my credit and figured this would be a good way. I am now thinking about maybe leaning towards a pickup since Expedition does not sound like best for me.

When I said I was big I am hindered by arthritis so hard to bend when getting in and out and squatting down for lower cars.I have owned several pickups and mostly Lariet F150's but seats are most uncomfortable around. Thats one reason we thought of large SUV.

But I am thinking about Chevy 2500, 4 full size doors, 4X4, and the quiet Duramax Diesal. And we can put a nice topper on rear. We want a 4X4 since we will be moving to Nebraska and will need it more than not. Also plan on getting travel trailer to pull so need 2500 at least. We leased a 07 Tahoe a couple yrs ago and loved it but lost job and it. I have driven Suburban, Escalade, Navigator, and Excursion and all were nice but seemed hard to manuver in tight city spots. I drove tractor Trailers for yrs, so no how to handle big vehicles.

We are renting a Chey Silverado in June for 2000 mile trip so that will help. I have looked at used in yrs I want and looks like 18 to20,000.00 is a good range. Thanks for input so far it really helps and will let you know what I get.

Pick up a 05' or newer Sequoia. Solid rigs that will last forever.

Thanks. Also will be putting 10,000.00 down.
I would suggest getting a Tahoe or a GMC Yukon, they both offer decent fuel mileage with a good amount of power and they're also roomy.
