Do you get the 60k service done? (engine, replacement, Civic)

Just curious, how many ppl get the 60k service done.

On some cars, most with a belt-driven cam, this will include replacement of that Gilmer belt - which if it breaks will cause serious engine damage.

The 60k service is important if you need the 100k warranty.

My 1991 car (Lexus LS400) had a 90K service on the t-belt, which was done, then again at 196K.

My 2000 Toyota Tundra also didnt have the major service until 90K (I sold it at 110K, without doing the service, but alerted the guy that bought it that the t-belt was due, which is why I knocked off $500). Not all cars have the 60K interval.... some are 90K.

I always do the maintenance as the owners manual lists. I do some of it myself and have other done by the dealer.

I have a 2006 Honda Civic and there's no 60k service in the manual. The car has a system to warn what service is needed. But when I called the dealer, they said 60k service costs $299. When I called firestone, they charge $430.

I'm going to listen to what my car tells me to do.

Find yourself a good indy shop, looks like you have spoken to 2 crooks so far...just IMHO.

All too often, the service is different from what the factory recommends, so you end up doing some things that aren't needed and neglect some things that are needed.
