I just hope the Cadillac Escalade ESV I just ordered for my wife rolls off the assembley line before they shut down the plant for 9 weeks.

If the worker holds shares of the company, it can be confusing.

Does this mean that while the factories are closed, the union workers will still get paid due to the union contract? That doesn't seem like the most effective use of the bailout money.

How is the union helping GM become more lean, efficient and competitive exactly? Seems to me that GM cannot downsize as much as it needs to because of the union.

If any of the domestic manufacturers have a chance to make it in the long run, they need to go BK, break the union contract and shed some of the legacy expenses, then rem-emerge with fewer brands. I see this as the only way they can survive.
