I have never abused a rental either, but it is a known fact that they do get abused by people who don't give a crap because it is not their own car. There are many articles on this in existance. A simple Google search will list them.
I've driven two out of the three...the Hyundai and the Buick, and I've been a passenger in a 2008 Malibu, of the three I liked the Buick best. It was the best overall in comfort, power, style and quality.

that's true..lets just say when i had a GM loaner car when i was getting some work done i drove it pretty hard and whould run it near the redline before shifting
Well after visiting car dealerships since Thursday and Saturday and test driving cars, I went with the Hyundai Sonata. I drive under 15k miles per year and 90% of my driving is city driving. Very, very few road trips and not much reason to use tollroads, etc. So mileage was a factor. I also keep my cars as long as I can. My current car is a 1997 Mazda and if it weren't for the too frequent repairs lately and that I've missed 4 days of work in the last 6 months due to it breaking down, I would have kept it longer. The Hyundai 5 year/60K bumper to bumper warranty (included) and the 100k drive train warranty are attractive. I really like the exterior of of the Lucerne and the Malibu, but the Lucerne was pricey for my budget. The Malibu has a vast price range and for the options that i wanted, a demo car with $6k miles on it priced out more than a new Sonata. I hope that I am happy with my decision for the long haul. I know for the near future, I will be. My car's suspension is going and it's not the pleasure to drive than it was years past. I'm picking the new car up Tuesday night and am very excited!
Well congradulations! Getting a new car is very exciting, enjoy it!
