The owner of Massey Saab/Cadillac, Bill Hull, told me that I can still sell my Saab as true miles known, even though they replaced the engine on it with a used engine (their mechanic destroyed my engine by dropping a bolt and starting the car).
I check because the engine number is recorded with the vehicle if the block has been chaged. I'd just tell the person because if something goes wrong you do not want to misrepresent the vehicle because you could be sued. I know a p-erson that sued a car dealer over this and got a reward from the jury.

I agree..somewhere in the ad you have to tell them it has the engine replaced with a used one so they can't come back and sue you for misrepresenting the car.

The OWNER of the dealership told me I did not have to disclose that the engine was replaced!!!!
to the OP: As a new member here and a current customer of Massey Cadillac of North Orlando. Trust me on this: DO NOT believe a single word Bill Hull told you., the guy is a charlatan. I have had a few heated altercations with him about the condition my Escalade has been left after it has being in service under warranty. Their technicians are a bunch of animals. They destroyed your property and refuse to take responsability for it. As far as your car and situation, you're best bet is to go with honesty. Tell the next owner the engine was replaced because some idiot drop a bolt in it and destroyed the original. That alone will save you any future headaches and a lawsuit.

Is he correct?
Yep.
Mileage and HOURS OF OPERATION are two different things.
Since hourmeters aren't commonplace on cars, you never know if a 70,000 mile engine was driven in city traffic and stop-and-go highway environments, or if it was used periodically to go 300 miles at a crack.
Miles are miles, as far as the odometer reading is concerned. You're fine.
