It is very difficult to buff scratches out of auto glass... in most cases the best solution is windshield replacement.

I agree. The scratches are on the passenger side & i have a crack (bottom to top) on that side as well. It dont impair my vision & i just dont have $150.00 for a new windshield. Its more annoying then anything & i try not to look at it which isnt easy.

Look at Eastwood's website, they offer a glass polishing kit. Hard to say without looking at your car if this would do enough good to be worthwhile or not.

I work for a company that does that sort of thing....look in the Yellow Pages for "glass repair", I think Safelite will do it if there's one in your area.

Be absolutely positive the scratches aren't "that deep" though....cuz if they are fairly deep, they don't come out too good. The glass repair guy is also going to try to sell you a new windshield either way (it costs more and it's less time consuming) so don't put too much stock in what he (or she) tells you, just use your judgement.

My scratches are not deep at all. I was told to use polishing compound & just rub it in a lil at a time. These are surface scratches only. Ill get some at walmart on friday.

I doubt that rubbing compound intended for paint will do anything with the glass, you can get cerium oxide at any good glass supply, a bit of that rubbed with water will polish the glass to some extent. Wright's Silver Polish, available at most grocery stores, will cut glass to some extent

You might want to think about using some sort of a block, like a sanding block, to back the rag you are rubbing with, if you are using your hand, you need to move in a truly random pattern, don't go back and forth in one line, or you will develop low spots where the knuckles of your fingers are.
